Experts are warning retail investors to stay away from meme stocks like Gamestop and AMC, describing them as volatile. Octavio Marenzi, CEO of management consultancy firm Opimas, likened the retail investing craze to a lottery but conceded that the experienced or advanced investor might dabble in meme stocks if they know when to get in and out. For cryptocurrencies, Marenzi said investors should expect the U.S. government to make life hard for the industry because it essentially views the digital currency as a threat to the dollar. "What they're really doing is a death by a thousand cuts by saying 'we're going to regulate here and there,'" said Marenzi.
