The metaverse is coming to the physical world. Meta announced plans to open a metaverse retail store as a better way to introduce it to the public. Cheddar News was joined by David Jodoin, CEO of Nynja to explain what to expect at the store and where the future of the metaverse can go next.

Meta to Open its First Retail Metaverse Stores

Now, the company announcing it will be opening a physical storefront in an effort to introduce more people to the metaverse joining us now to explain everything, we need to know about these new brick and mortars is David joe Doohan cto of ninja. So David, what can we expect from these stores? And what do you think they'll look like really well? You know, this isn't a new model, I mean obviously Apple kind of led the charge there in regards to creating the genius bar and the apple retail outlets and and they they really were successful, right? So, you know, Martin Gilliard, who actually, you know, is director of the marketing for the meta store, um you know, he's he's he's he's following down and he's got a big shoes to fill, right? So it's it's it's going to be a challenge for him. Uh this isn't the first uh time that if facebook or meta actually has done retail, they've actually engaged in pop up stores over the last several years uh in order to try and promote the VR metaverse. Right? So, so it's really gonna be a matter of, you know, you know, execution and basically what type of demand there is, right, David, do you think this is the future of retail stores now going forward? Um I call it experience marketing, I mean, you know, when you're dealing with technologies where people are early adopters, some people will jump into the four a very quickly and, you know, they don't need to touch and feel it, they actually experiment by buying the tech, but when it comes to technologies like virtual reality, you know, and the metaverse, um there's a lot to learn about what it really is. I mean if you think about it right, you know, the Orange, the origins of the metaverse actually comes from a fully realized digital world. Um that was really coined out of science fiction novelists like Snow Crash and Ready Player one, right? So, you know, people of of a certain generation really don't understand the concept of what that fully immersed internet is, but people who are younger, uh in that 20 to 35 year old age range, they grew up with nothing but the internet. So from that standpoint it's gonna be a lot easier for them to understand and adopt absolutely well, it definitely looks like a fun interactive experience.
