Millions Around the World Feeling the Heat

And from severe storms to the heat we keep talking about the summer has been a scorcher. Not only here in the US, the whole world has been facing record breaking and historical hot temperatures. Chatter's Ashley Masti reports. It's pretty hot here on the streets of New York City, but we're not only having a national heat wave, we're having a global heat wave. The heat index value in Iran reached 152 degrees on Sunday, the southwest has had a weeks long heat wave and wildfires are breaking out globally because of the hot temperatures. Experts say during heat waves, it's important to stay out of the sun as much as possible. They say use an air conditioner if you have one check on elderly neighbors and wear light, light colored clothing that covers as much of your skin as possible. Some signs of heat illness include heavy sweating, muscle cramps and decreased energy. In New York City say they're waiting for the heat to ease up. It's bearable. But once you have to travel or walk long distances, it can be unbearable. Experts also say to stay hydrated but people with liver, kidney or heart disease should check with their doctors before increasing their fluid intake. Ashley Masar Chet News.
