Millions Commemorate Juneteenth

Today is June and millions across the country are honoring the day which is to commemorate the end of slavery. Here in the United States. The Emancipation Proclamation was signed by Abraham Lincoln in 18 63. But it was in June 19th, 18 65 that enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were told that they were free. The day became a federal holiday when President Biden signed the June National Independence Day Act in 2021.
