Spending a day at the museum is definitely getting pricey in news. Senior reporter Michelle Castillo explored ways to get your culture fixed without breaking the bank. There are more than 35,000 museums in the US from the Art Institute of Chicago to the Smithsonian to the getty. But with admission prices for adults as much as $30 it's worth exploring affordable ways to get your culture fixed. Just ask Brooklyn Museum's Kiana Hendrick, you can enjoy the museum without spending any money for starters. Look for venues that have discounted days or a pay what you wish policy like Brooklyn Museum. If they choose not to pay anything, then they're welcome to come to the museum for free and not all exhibits require a ticket. Think outside the museum, we've got tons of things going on around the building. Uh We celebrate the architecture of the building as a way to bring art to Eastern Parkway Museum. Cafes can be expensive. So why not pack your own meal? Come to the front of the building, have lunch and amidst the flowers here. Uh listen to jazz in the beer garden um and bring your family and friends and have a taco in the Brooklyn Museum also offers free programming ranging from its stoop series yoga to dance parties. On First Saturdays for all museum goers of all ages. You can come make art, listen to music, hear poetry, watch films and connect with artists. You don't always have to go to a museum to find art. Look for unconventional venues including your local public library. The public library offers so many great programs for people of all ages. There are so many things here and they're all free to the public across the country. Libraries are another public space offering access to all kinds of art. One of the missions of Brooklyn Public Library is to provide access not just to books but to information to culture and to make it available to everyone for free. Your library card can also let you check out more than books. New York City Public Libraries give members a culture pass which includes the American Natural History Museum and the Whitney Museum of Modern Art. We have over 80 partners in the cultural arts. So museums, gardens, even some performance venues and that will allow you to get a free pass. You can also use your library card to help you make your own masterpiece. You could make your own album or record a song in the recording studio which would be great and we offer tons. I mean tons of art classes, music classes, music production classes.
