Model Joy Corrigan Talks New Swimsuit Collection 

Welcome back Friends Between Bells. Our next guest has managed to stand out amongst your peers with her passion for acting, her artistic eye for fashion and also her love for animals. Joy Corrigan is releasing her latest collection of her clothing line, Naked Species which is bringing awareness with every swimsuit that's being sold. And joining us now to discuss is Joy Corrigan herself, model actor and Ceo of Naked Species. Welcome welcome to the show. Your collection released Monday. Congratulations. What does it mean to you to finally have this collection out for all your consumers? I am so excited to launch this collection. I've been working on it for a long time and it's very special to me because we have decided to highlight one endangered species, the sloth. And so we have space sloth t shirt and all the swimsuit Is 90 themes. It's retro, it's super cute, I love to wear and I hope everyone else does. Well we're showing our viewers some of the looks right here and I'm glad that you mentioned that it's going to such an amazing thing here. Joy but you designed these yourself, where do you come up with the inspiration for a lot of these looks? So I love to design pieces that I love to wear first and most um I think for me when I see something I'm like oh I really have to use something iridescent this collection because I feel like it's hot, it's in people will love it and um most of all I like to incorporate things that you know, people that resonates with them just as much as it does with me. Do you have favorite pieces from this brand because they're all absolutely gorgeous from what we're seeing? Yeah. Okay. My favorite piece is the space lofty, which um has a little sloth going into outer space and on the t it says I'm relocating to mars because I'm endangered and it kind of gives the message that um, we to be aware that all these beautiful creatures are going extinct. There's actually only 100 left of this pygmy sloth, this specific species. So I really wanted to highlight that piece. And everybody that buys a piece from the collection. Um 10% goes to while tomorrow fund. It's amazing charity. Doing great things in africa and let's talk about why this mission of helping animals is so important to you. Where did that sort of start and begin and why did you want to sort of infuse these two things together here? Okay, so I grew up on a farm in north Carolina, very um small town and I grew up with all sorts of animals. We had horses, goats, chickens, llamas, um, rabbits, dogs, cats, ducks and all these were our pets. We um, we would have names for them. We would milk the goats, ride the horses and they were very, very close to it. They were, they were family basically. And as I was trying to find a mission and a purpose in life. Um, I came across endangered species and when I was doing research, I was so sad to find out that every year, so many of these beautiful creatures are going extinct. And so that just hold on my heart and I said, you know what? This is going to be, what my mission in my cause and my purpose is going to be from now on joe. I love your story and I'm so glad you mentioned that you grew up in north Carolina. What made you decide? You know what, it's time to make that leap of faith and move. Um, well I knew there was something else out there. Um, I was homeschooled actually. I have six brothers and three sisters and we were somewhat sheltered, actually, a lot sheltered. Um, and I knew there was something else. I knew that I was destined to do great things and I was gonna do whatever it took to get there. So as soon as I could um, I moved out of the small town and I moved to Miami actually the first city and I said, I'm going to be a model. I'm gonna be an actress. I'm gonna make it. And um, it wasn't easy, but I, I kept going. I did not give up my dreams and little by little. I worked at it and here I am today, Good for you, Joy sticking with it, good for you. And by the way, we love all the campaigns. You've been a part of it. Just listen to all these ones, you've been a part of victoria's secret guess urban decay so many more. What's your next big dream brand you want to work with and maybe collab with? Okay, so I really love Jessica Alba's brand honest because she really puts out things that are close to her heart but also that are clean and I'm all about helping clean beauty. So I would love to do a collab with her one day. Yeah, we love her like yeah that's a great line. And aside from modeling you're also into acting, you've been in Showtime's super pumped super show. Yeah. What's more fun for you, enjoy acting or modeling. So I've been modeling for so many years that acting to me is way more fun that so much it's harder, a lot harder and way more dynamic. There's a lot of aspects to it. I mean, weeks of work putting into getting into your character learning um you know the backstory and there it's just it's way more fulfilling for me. So I love acting and I think that's what I've been mainly focusing on in the last couple of years. Well you've got a great road ahead. Joyce. Such a pleasure to have you here.
