And some of those items were even marked as top secret. The search on the mar A Lago estate included the President's office storage rooms and other areas used by trump and his staff. Some items include binders of photos and executive granting of clemency for trump Ally Roger Roger stone and information about the president of France. Now there were also papers labeled as S. C. I. Or sensitive compartmented information. In response, the former president released a statement saying it was all declassified and they didn't need to seize anything. They could have had it at any time. Now, of course the Department of Justice disagrees. Right? So what's been the response so far, Ariel, in the nation's capital to the this story. It's incredible. Well of course, uh democrats have been quite critical of this. But republicans have been looking at this from a kind of polarizing edge. Many republicans are backing the former president calling to defund the FBI but others are not rushing their opinions are waiting until they know all the facts trump. Allies have advised republicans to be measured in their response as potentially even more damaging information about the search could be released to the public at any time. But of course we have to think about the political strategy here. Midterms are just around the corner and 2024 is just two years away, so republicans have to be careful even if they're projected to take both chambers of Congress.
