After Texas Democratic legislators left the state following a GOP-led attempt at a special session to change voting regulations, Governor Greg Abbott threatened the absent lawmakers with arrest upon their return. In such a scenario, the NAACP has offered to pay bail for the Democrats who took the last-ditch effort to call attention to their fight over voting rights in the Lone Star State. "We support them wholeheartedly," Derrick Johnson, president and CEO of the NAACP, told Cheddar. "So whether it's that they're arrested and have to pay bail, we'll pay for it. They need to spend more time in DC, we will cover expenses because this is so important. And Congress, the United States Congress, must act to protect the rights of voters"
