The US Department of Agriculture said yesterday the highly contagious bird flu virus was detected at the Minnesota farm as well as in three smaller flocks in South Dakota and Iowa. The USDA said more than 26,000 turkeys will also be killed at a farm in South Dakota and nearly 17,000 birds will be killed in Clay County Iowa. Officials say the bird flu isn't a threat to food safety and that bird flu infections among humans are rare.
