Severe Weather: The eastern part of the country is under threat of severe weather, with a cold front producing storms from Florida up to New England that could depress voter turnout in some battleground races. HQ2 Twist: Amazon will reportedly split its highly anticipated second headquarters between Queens, N.Y, and Arlington, Va. The move, still unconfirmed, would be a surprise twist to the yearlong saga of where the e-commerce giant would put down new roots. Read more here.
Cashierless 7-Eleven: 7-Eleven is going cashierless in Dallas. The convenience store is following Amazon and Sam’s Club by testing a mobile app that allows customers to check out on their own. Read more here.
Gymnastics: The U.S. Olympic Committee wants to strip USA Gymnastics of its role as the governing body of the sport. In an open letter, the USOC said the organization was incapable of overcoming the fallout from the Larry Nassar sex abuse scandal. USA Gymnastics did not indicate whether it would fight the move. Mac Miller: Rapper Mac Miller died of a lethal mix of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol. Miller’s death was ruled an accidental overdose by the L.A. Coroner. His ex-girlfriend, Ariana Grande, honored his memory in her latest single. Read more here.
