1. BIDEN HEADS TO NATO

President Biden heads to his first NATO summit in Brussels today, after announcing Sunday he wishes to work with U.S. allies to fight aggressive behavior from China and Russia. NATO’s 30 member nations are said to have a challenge ahead of them as they try to agree on how to confront Russian aggression and China’s human rights abuses. Biden is set to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin Wednesday. NYT

2. COVID-19 LATEST

G7 LAB LEAK: G7 leaders are calling for a transparent and expert-led investigation of the pandemic’s origins. They’ve asked the WHO to conduct a Phase 2 investigation in China. President Biden said there is not yet any certainty about whether or not the disease originated from “a bat interfacing with animals… or whether it was an experiment gone awry in a laboratory.” REUTERS

J&J CONTAMINATION: The FDA has told Johnson & Johnson it can’t distribute more than 60 million doses due to possible contamination at a Baltimore factory. FDA officials will actually allow 10 million of the doses to be distributed, but with a warning stating regulators cannot guarantee good manufacturing practices. U.S. doses so far have been shipped from the Netherlands factory. NYT

NY VAX GOAL: The state of New York is nearing President Biden’s goal of 70% of adults having received at least one vaccine dose by July 4. Governor Andrew Cuomo said Sunday that according to NY State stats, 67.2% of adults have gotten at least one dose. Currently the state also has the lowest daily positive test rate, at 0.44%. BLOOMBERG

3. NEW ISRAELI GOVERNMENT

Benjamin Netanyahu has been ousted as Israel’s Prime Minister after 12 years in office. Israeli parliament approved a new and unprecedented coalition government made of left-wing, centrist, right-wing and Islamist Arab parties. The new Prime Minister says it will be a “government of change.” Netanyahu is now the opposition leader. REUTERS

4. INFRASTRUCTURE IDEAS

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said Sunday there will not be a gas tax hike or a reversal of President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax bill in a new infrastructure proposal she and a small bipartisan group are formulating. Their plan will be paid for by repurposing COVID-19 relief funds, an infrastructure financing authority, and a provision ensuring that electric vehicle drivers pay their fair share to use roads and bridges, Collins said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.” Collins and her colleagues say they’re nearing a deal they can bring to Senate leaders soon. POLITICO

5. LOOKING AHEAD TO FED MEETING

The Fed’s June two-day policy meeting kicks off today, and the question hanging in the air is whether or not Fed Chair Jerome Powell will declare current inflationary trends as transitory -- or not. Markets are still awaiting an answer amid rising costs of living and an increasing pace of inflation. Investors are viewing inflation as a result of supply chain woes and rising demand, and something that will flatten out as time passes. MARKETWATCH

6. DOGE SELLS AS NFT

The “Doge” meme, a photo of an excited Shiba Inu and one of the most iconic internet images, has sold as an NFT for $4 million. That makes the meme one of the most expensive NFT purchases of all time. Internet meme database Know Your Meme certified the “Doge” photo ahead of the auction to ensure the sale was legitimate. 7. FDA APPROVES STROKE DEVICE

The FDA has approved a device called IpsiHand to help stroke patients recover and restore a disabled hand. The device is attached to the fingers, hand and wrist, and uses signals from the uninjured side of the brain to help rewire circuits which control the hand, wrist and arm. The device can be used at home and in conjunction with physical therapy. NPR

8. DJOKOVIC WINS

Novak Djokovic won the French Open -- his second championship win and 19th Grand Slam title overall. Djokovic rallied after dropping the first two sets against Stefanos Tsitsipas Sunday. He eliminated Rafael Nadal Friday night. Djokovic is just one major trophy away from tying the men’s record of 20 titles shared by Nadal and Roger Federer, but he will have a chance to pull even at Wimbledon in two weeks. ESPN

10. LEFTOVERS: TOP DOG

Wasabi the Pekingese won the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Sunday night, beating six other dogs to take home the top prize. The three-year-old, 13.5 pound pup with a flowing coat won Best in Show at the 145th edition of the Westminster festivities. USA TODAY
