And we are also monitoring the aftermath of a hotel explosion in Havana cuba. At least 31 people have died. Nearly 20 more are missing and dozens are injured. The massive five star hotel was built in the 1930s and was preparing to reopen after two years of repairs. At this point, officials say, a gas leak is to blame, but it's still early on in the investigation. It shows across the board that a significant majority of americans support legal abortion in all or most cases on the question of a federal law protecting abortion rights. A majority still holds 58% of americans support such a measure, while 42% oppose the Senate is set to take up such a law on Wednesday though, as we talked about last week, it's likely not going to go anywhere now. Regardless. This new polling shows a sizeable majority favoring abortion rights. Republican candidates have their work cut out for them on this issue. So, given sort of that context there, Ariel, how are Republican candidates in a lot of these big races now talking about this potential court decision here? Great question. And so far they're looking at this very carefully. Two of the most notable examples came in the Senate races in Nevada and also new Hampshire. Both states have a history of more liberal abortion laws, meaning that their residents are used to a more open environment for reproductive freedom in both states, The republican challengers really put out statements in support of ending row and then immediately said some version of it won't be an issue in our state. And those network operators are saying they're anticipating a shortfall in supplies this summer, especially of extreme heat. The mid continent independent system operator, which oversees the grid across the midwest and texas, grid operators are saying shortages may force them to take emergency measures to meet summer demand and even flagged the risks of outages. The risk of electricity shortages rises throughout the US as traditional power plants are now being retired more quickly than they can be replaced by renewable energy and battery storage.
