Senator lindsey Graham testifying before that Georgia grand jury. The appeals court told a lower court to consider the case again to decide whether Graham should be exempt from answering certain times types of questions because he is a senator. Some context on that. Lawmakers in Congress have in the past been exempt from testifying under the constitution speech and debate clause which prevents prosecutors from asking questions about legitimate functions. Legislative functions there. Now it's unclear whether that would apply in this case. Georgia prosecutors want to talk to Graham about two calls that he made to Georgia Secretary of State brad raffensperger about invalidating those mail in ballots in the peach state to help president trump win. It'll be for a lower court to decide whether that would be related to Graham's work as a senator. Yeah. And meanwhile, Ariel President biden this week is expected to make an announcement on federal student loans. What do you know about that? Yeah, that's right. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said on sunday that the biden administration will announce a decision on student loans this week. Now a quick reminder the moratorium on federal student loans and the accumulation of interest on those loans expires at the end of august the payment pause began in March 2020 as part of a covid relief from Congress. And both President trump and biden have renewed it since then. And that's what we know. We don't exactly know exactly when this announcement is going to re release or what it's going to entail. It could be another extension of the payment pause or it could be more of a permanent change in policy from the Education Department. Progressives have called for eliminating up to $50,000 of federal debt for every borrower. But biden has been pretty hesitant to go that far. And also we have to keep in mind that midterms are less than three months away. And biden needs a largely young and college educated student borrowers to turn out for democrats and it'll be pretty silly on the political front to restart payments right before a pivotal election.
