TRUMP TAX RULING: The Supreme Court has ruled that the Manhattan D.A. is entitled to get access to President Trump’s taxes and private financial records, a huge blow to the president‘s claims that he is immune from investigation while in office -- though it does not mean that his taxes will be released publicly. In a separate decision, the Court said that Congress could not get access to those same records, at least until a lower court weighed in. The decisions were both 7-2, with Trump appointees Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh joining the majority. WASH POST
COVID-19: LATEST DEVELOPMENTS: The U.S. is now reporting about 60,000 new COVID-19 cases a day -- nearly twice the daily caseload reported during the April peak. Texas is approaching 11,000 new daily cases as the state recorded its first day of triple-digit deaths. Most of the state has banned elective surgeries to free up hospital beds. It’s not much better in Florida, where extra nurses are being deployed in Miami hospitals. A Tampa hospital official says it’s like having “a bus accident a day.” NY TIMES
TROPICAL STORM FAY: Tropical Storm Fay has formed off the North Carolina coast and is gaining strength as it tracks up the eastern seaboard. The earliest ‘F’ named storm on record, Fay is expected to make landfall near NYC tonight. The biggest concern is rain: the system is expected to dump 3 to 5 inches in the Tri-State area before it moves inland over New England tomorrow. TRACK
BIDEN ECONOMIC AGENDA: Joe Biden put forth his economic vision for the country in one of the first major speeches since he became the presumptive Democratic nominee for president. Biden called for $700 billion in new spending to invest in the domestic manufacturing sector, clean energy and fortifying supply chains. The speech had hints of the populist message that President Trump has honed over the years. POLITICO
EVICTION WAVE COMING: Renters who have not been paying rent since the pandemic began are facing a looming eviction crisis, as housing courts reopen and federal, state and local eviction moratoriums are set to expire in the coming weeks. By one estimate, some 20 million Americans are at risk of eviction by the end of September. In cities where the moratoriums have already expired, like Memphis and Milwaukee, officials are already seeing big spikes in eviction filings from landlords. YAHOO FINANCE
VIRTUAL CONFERENCE ROOM: Microsoft has added a ‘Together Mode’ to its Teams software program. The new feature puts your face onto a virtual avatar that can then be placed in a virtual room along with your colleagues (think conference room, auditorium, classroom.) The idea is to remove some of the distractions that are a part of videoconferencing and make it easier to engage in meetings. CNET
OUTRAGE AFTER NFL PLAYER QUOTES HITLER: More NFL players are speaking out after Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson posted anti-Semitic quotes attributed to Hitler on Instagram. Steelers tackle Zach Banner ripped the NFL and the players association for their response, while Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, who is Jewish, offered to take Jackson to the Holocaust Museum. LADY A DISPUTE: The performer Anita “Lady A” White says she is “not going to be erased” after the band formerly known as Lady Antebellum changed its name to Lady A and sued her for copyright infringement. White has been performing under the Lady A name since 1987. VULTURE
