A new study presented at the European Society of Medical Oncology conference could provide a breakthrough in treatment for cervical cancer. The study funded by cancer research UK looked at 500 women in the UK who had cervical cancer and gave half of them six weeks of intense chemotherapy before typical treatments like surgery and radiation. Five years later, 80% of those women were alive and 73% didn't see their cancer grow or spread. The results are 35% better than women who received the regular treatment. And the researchers say it could be the biggest breakthrough in treating the disease in 20 years. A doctor from cancer research UK said, quote, timing is everything when you're treating cancer. A growing body of evidence is showing the value of additional rounds of chemotherapy before other treatments. And quote is certainly important results. And you know, any time we talk about women's health, of course, you and I might be biased because we are women, but there is not as much data on women. And so it's good to see our research like this being done and look at, I mean, I think you said it right. This is ground research to save women's lives by 35%.
