The highly anticipated New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival has now been cancelled as a result of the state seeing a rapid number of new COVID-19 cases. The festival which was slated to take place in the month of October was originally expected to occur during the Spring of this year. Organizers now say the new date for the event will take place next year on April 29th. Reports say that the state of Louisiana has seen more COVID-19 hospitalizations within the past few weeks. Now the recent resurgence of infections has caused concerns over whether or not crowded celebrations like these may be the reason behind these new cases.
