New York City's Javits Center is being transformed into a makeshift field hospital to help prevent local medical facilities from being overwhelmed by coronavirus cases.
The Javits Center, which usually holds auto shows and comic book conventions, will house about 1,000 beds. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said it should be up and running in about one week. He also called on retired medical personnel to volunteer to help out in the fight against the deadly virus.
Cheddar's Michelle Castillo was at the Javits Center when Cuomo visited on Monday to see the preparations firsthand.
