NFL Reportedly to Stream Sunday Ticket on YouTube

Youtube gonna pay about $2 billion a year to secure the rights to the NFL sunday ticket franchise. That's according to the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter. Now earlier this week there were reports that Apple had ended negotiations with the NFL over the sports league sunday ticket package. The move comes as demand for more sports streaming deals continue to increase. Shannon tech companies now are paying a huge amount of money for a lot of these sports rights. Apple tv now has Major League Baseball, they now have major league soccer. Google was basically, it was basically between google Apple and ESPN potentially for this sunday night for this NFL sunday ticket package. It's becoming so expensive now for these big Abc NBC all these companies to break even on these sports rights even though they bring them tons of ratings and tons of numbers. I mean sunday night football still is the most watched show on television but it's harder for companies like NBC to pay billions of dollars, $2 billion is how much by the way google is paying to keep to this sunday NFL package which is and that's a billion dollars more than what direct Tv was paying for it at the time. So you can see the benefit in them to say okay I'm gonna pay $2.5 billion for this. That must mean that they have a plan in place at least they hope they do to really make some revenue on this deal because you know, you're thinking about 1.5 million subscribers tune into direct T. V. S sunday football package. So if they can increase that would be on Youtube and that's plus for them. But people forget they hear youtube and they think oh it's gonna be free. No it's youtube tv so you still have to pay like $60 or more because they're probably gonna raise it now that they have this football package in order to get this football package well. And it also shows the consolidation and change we're seeing in the streaming landscape. We know all of these big companies like NBC and Disney who are losing billions of dollars on their streaming platform trying to find any which way to get those people that are cutting the cord right now to stay on those particular platforms. The only companies right now that have money and capital to spend on this kind of stuff are these tech companies which is why there's always so many rumors out there. Will you see Apple purchase a Disney down the road because they've got the billions of dollars under the couch cushion that they can make an acquisition like that. And it's smart because there had a lot of viewers that are missing out on and they're hoping that this NFL package will bring those viewers to Youtube so we'll see what happens and we'll keep you posted on that
