North Star Boys Talk Asian Representation And Debut Single 'You Are My Star'

Welcome back to Between Bells. Everyone releasing their highly anticipated single, You are my Star. To kick off their music debut after banding together as a content group in august of 2021. The North Star Boys? An asian american music group is making their spot at the table. And since NSB has been on an upward trajectory aiming to inspire and bring asian representation to the forefront of media. Welcome to the show Guys, such a pleasure. Like I mentioned, the group's mission is to show asian representation in the media. I didn't see that growing up, I have no doubt you didn't see that. Growing up, Sebastian will start with you. How does inspiring others and taking ownership and representing the asian community impact your career? It's everything to us. I mean growing up we didn't see a lot of representation and all we want for the media and for the world is to show that you know, we can really make an impact by doing what we want to do and being successful at it and we really hope that we can inspire other asian americans and everyone across the world as well. Well, you're certainly making an impact because the group's debut single was just released with BTS and Black Pink. You guys know K pop has made its mark here in the U. S. Do you feel pressure behind the scenes in the creative process? Anyone can answer this? Well, um number one, thank you for having us. Um do we feel pressure being into music now? I would say I would say no because we strive to be ourselves and we want to keep it that way. Because one thing that we want to inspire others is to continue to be themselves and to pursue their passions. Like I said, there are seven of you in this group. How do you make sure everyone's voice is being heard? Well, I mean we all come from different backgrounds, were from different states in America and Reggie for instance, is from the Philippines. So we all have different views on things, but we come together um to be on one page and to you know, work towards our North Star, your last public outing. We have to talk about this because it's sparked fans also known as Star to flood the streets of Times Square. There's the video. This is incredible what is your process in creating a healthy mentality when it comes to the amount of fans rushing to just get a glimpse of you and now being in the public eye eye, there are not many bands that can attract this kind of attention on Times Square. You know, when we put together the meat up the night before it turned out to be way larger than we originally anticipated, but we are incredibly incredibly thankful for all of our supporters and everybody that showed up if you do not know us. We are fully fan driven everything we do. We do it for our fans and supporters. So it was really great to see them in person and we really hope next time that we can really get to, you know, meet all of them guys. I have to say the authenticity really comes out from U K Pop has been on the rise as a global phenomenon for over a decade Now. Did you ever expect the us to take hold of K Pop? Like it has. We're pretty much obsessed with Pop. Of course, I mean us ourselves, we love K Pop and we respect them 100%. Um We are not trying to be like them though. I can I can see the similarities but we're trying to be ourselves. Most importantly, you guys just had a performance at the legendary iconic Roxy in West Hollywood. This was the band's first headlining show. Congratulations guys. I have to ask. When can fans? Yes, you yes, you definitely deserve a round of applause. When can we expect a full album from you guys? Mm hmm. Very, very soon. We are recording music every single night and in fact, we've recorded over 100 songs. So yeah, you can expect that very soon. Over 100 songs. Okay, we can't wait now.
