With New York City, the largest school district in the country, mandating COVID vaccines for teachers and staff and Los Angeles to follow, the pressure is growing for others to follow suit. "I would expect that you will see more districts take that approach," Mike Magee, CEO of a network of educators called Chiefs for Change, told Cheddar. "We have not called for a national vaccine mandate, but what we have done is support all of our members to do what they need to do to raise their vaccination rates among teachers and students as high as they possibly can." He also discussed the politicization of the issue and helping educators communicate with their local communities.
