Oakland A's Get the Nod to Move to Las Vegas

Las Vegas is getting another major sports team yesterday. The MLB approved the Oakland A's proposal to relocate. The team won't be moving until 2028 because their lease at the Oakland Coliseum does not run out until next year. Then the plan is to play games at various ballparks around the until their $1.5 billion facility near the Las Vegas Strip is open for business. The A's are one of the oldest franchises in the American League and have spent 55 years in Oakland. But team ownership and fans think the Oakland Coliseum is outdated and needs repairs. The A's owner spent nearly 18 years looking for a new stadium in the Bay area but struck out. The A's aren't the first major team to ditch Oaktown. The Golden State Warriors moved to San Francisco in 2019 and the Raiders left Oakland in 2020 also for Vegas.
