Prenatal vitamin brand, Perelel, recently raised $4.7 million in a seed round led by Unilever Ventures.  Perelel says it is the first OB/GYN-founded prenatal vitamin brand that offers targeted nutrition for each stage of a woman's reproductive lifecycle.  The startup also says its products are informed by the latest medical research and deliver the essential nutrients a woman needs for the specific stage of life she is in.  Alex Taylo and Victoria Thain Gioia, co-founders and co-CEOs of Perelel, join Cheddar News' Closing Bell to discuss.

Founded prenatal vitamin brand that offers targeted nutrition for each stage of a woman's reproductive life cycle. So joining me now is Alex taylor in victoria. They enjoy a co founders and co C E. O. S of parallel ladies, thanks so much for coming on the show, Alex will kick things off with you. Tell us about what these vitamins offer to women of course. So thank you for having us today. Um we created parallel because we want to create a product that offers truly targeted nutrition for every stage of a woman's reproductive journey. And as we've learned, your nutritional needs really change and evolve depending on your life stage. You know what I need now is very different than my mom who's going through menopause and we really saw an opportunity to disrupt and reimagine this starting in the prenatal vitamin category. So we create targeted vitamin bundles in the most bio available formats formulated by the people who know best doctors um ranging from O. B. G. Y N, maternal fetal medicine, doctors, reproductive endocrinologists as well as alternative practitioners such as and dieticians acupuncturists etcetera. They all come together to formulate these products to ensure women are getting exactly what they need when they need it, victoria. I want you to come in here as well and talk to me about those nutrients that are important that your vitamins provide during this journey. Yeah, so the nutrients change depending on where you are. We launched within the motherhood category and really breaking down conception each individual trimester and then a new mom and what those specific needs are. Um Always having some poor multi vitamin and omega to cover your baseline needs. But then targeted supplements for each stage. And then we also recently launched our Women's daily vitamin Trio for any woman of reproductive health. You know primarily those before she rolls into the conception pack or prior to her motherhood journey or after the end of her journey when her kids are a little bit older but really wanting to have the right nutrients at each stage. After our respective experiences where we felt like we were failed from the one size fits all market interesting um Alex I want to bring you back in here. Talk to me a bit about pricing um We do know that prenatal vitamins do exist on the market but I know your startup trying to fill the gap here for care that you're noting was lacked before and so what's the price point that consumers can expect to pay? Yeah, so our price point is it's interesting. We really look at the market and we're providing tremendous value. So our prenatal vitamins are at the $48 a month price point. Our women's daily vitamin trio is $38 but you have to factor in that you're getting multiple supplements in one pack that you typically have to source separately. So the vitamins within any of our prenatal packs could be anywhere from 80 to $100 a month to source separately. But with us you're spending under 50 same goes for a women's Daily vitamin trio. You know, many women are sourcing a multivitamin, that might be anywhere from 15 to 30 plus dollars and omega again could be 20 plus dollars and then a beauty blend also ranges, you know, on the market from you know, 15 to 50 plus dollars. So there's a tremendous value proposition. When we went about pricing our product victoria. My last question is to you is the intention here for this to be direct to consumer or do you plan on working with health insurance companies? Major pharmacies had to get this in other places, You know, we're exploring different models and what could work. Our goal is to serve this woman wherever she is and make an accessible product for us. Today, the DDC subscription model is really working, it's growing and you know, maybe it's covid, but we've really seen that this woman is ready and willing to buy things online, Sign up for a subscription and she likes that it replenishes her vitamins and she never runs out, but we will never stop exploring growth avenues and having those conversations for what can fit best for us.
