Obamas Unveil Presidential Portraits

let's turn now to our nation's capital where a few familiar faces returning to the White House is former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama visited for the unveiling of their official portraits. No, I love it. Our own aerial Hickson is of course there with all the details, the jokes that they pointed out. Also some of the pointed comments about the nation. So Ariel, what's the latest? Well, Shannon and baker, the dynamic duo was back in action as former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama were invited by President biden to unveil their official White House portraits after commenting on how it was quote great to be back. The former president took the time to comment on the lasting legacy of a White House portrait. Take a listen when future generations walk these halls and look up at these portraits. I hope they get a better honest sense of who Michelle and I were and I hope they leave with a deeper understanding that if we could make it here, maybe they can too. The paintings were created by artists who were hand selected by the Obama's former President. Obama's portrait was painted by robert mccurdy. An artist known for his realistic looking work. That is often mistaken for photographs and the former first lady's painting was created by Sharon sprung and artists recognize for her work on members of Congress and other historical figures. But now these portraits will hang alongside legendary classics like J. F. K. And George Washington and just like old times President Obama did not hold back on the jokes, especially when complimenting his wife's portrait. I want to thank Sharon sprung for capturing everything I love about Michelle her grace, her intelligence and the fact that she's fine. Too funny and the former first lady did thank her husband for his quote spicy remarks. But all jokes aside white House portraits are traditionally unveiled during the first term of a president successor. But former President donald trump did not hold this event for the Obama's while he was in power. No word yet on if they buy the administration really plans to return the favor and invite president trump to a portrait unveiling Ariel. Let's now move to the Senate. Senator chuck schumer says the the senate potentially will vote on a bill to codify same sex marriage. So what's the timeline we're looking at here, potentially. Well, the Senate majority leader says that this vote will come in the next few weeks. Republicans have said many republicans have said that this vote is quote unnecessary, but democrats are trying to get this bill passed as quickly as possible. They need 10 republicans to join on boards. They need some bipartisanship and so we'll have all the updates regarding what's happening on capitol hill as soon as possible.
