Chloe Kim will be shredding down the halfpipe for another Olympic bid.

The two-time gold medalist confirmed that she plans to compete in the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

"As of now, the plan is most definitely to go after a third medal," she told Cheddar News in an interview on Thursday. She added that she will be taking off a full season of competition, though, for mental health reasons.

"I just want to enjoy this moment, take it all in, and then get back to it when I'm feeling ready," she explained.

The 21-year-old had previously said in an interview with The New York Times that she would likely retire by the time she was 26. However, she will be reaching that milestone in the year of the Milano Cortina Games.

Kim has also been vocal about her struggles with mental health but told Cheddar that she's currently doing better.

"I think that a lot of the pressure I feel is mostly from myself and pressure that I put on myself," she said. "As a professional athlete and also as somebody who genuinely loves what they do, I can't help but have high expectations for myself, right? I want to be the best snowboarder that I can possibly be, and if I can't do that, it's frustrating."

She explained that attending school at Princeton University helped her when she started to lose love for the sport.

"It was nice to know that I can make friends with people who weren't snowboarders," she said. "It was just nice to have that type of separation and get away from the thought of working."

Kim became an overnight sensation after becoming the youngest woman to win an Olympic snowboarding gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics — she was just 17-years-old. At the 2022 Winter Olympics, she successfully defended her gold medal in the halfpipe, making her the first woman to ever win back-to-back gold medals in the event.
