Olympic Hopeful Wants to Help Young Women Fund Their Big Dreams
While you were out partying this past weekend, World Cup Ski Jumper Abby Ringquist was competing in the US Olympic team trials for Nordic Ski Jumping.
After placing second in the competition, she joins Cheddar to tell us how she's helping other young women fund their big dreams.
Ringquist worked three jobs to self-fund her travel and expenses to compete on the World Cup and Olympic levels. She is paying it forward by teaming up with non-profit 1,000 Dreams Fund ("1DF") to become the face of their new national fundraising campaign, #FundGirlsOntheRise.
Disgraced sports doctor Larry Nassar, who was convicted of sexually abusing female gymnasts including Olympic medalists, was stabbed multiple times during an altercation with another inmate at a federal prison in Florida.
Allisen Corpuz picked the right time and the right place for her first big win. She won the first U.S. Women's Open at Pebble Beach, Calif., shooting a final-round 69 for a three-shot victory.
