Hm. Coming up on a positive note today, good news does exist. Five Long Island families get a big surprise from Long Island's favorite hockey team. Feels great to just put everything to the side and then just focus on trying to be normal. It just feels great to do that, the heartwarming gesture that helped them through difficult times. And with prom season just around the corner, these dresses actually make me feel pretty nonprofits are stepping up to make sure students look and feel their best ahead of the big night. Plus when someone does an act of kindness, they leave this card behind and it just says, you know, this act of kindness has been done in memory of Charlie Capalbo. One community found a creative way to spread kindness all while honoring the memory of a local star athlete today. Good news does exist and you've come to the right place to find it. These are stories that just prove people are good something we could all use a little more of, I think. Right. Well, on that note, let's head on over to Long Island where some very important little ones are getting a major surprise directly from the New York Islanders ice hockey team. Some of these gift recipients are Children battling cancer, making the surprise. All the more moving. Take a look. It was quite an afternoon for five Long Island kids and their families. As New York Islanders owner John Ledecky showed up at their doors with tickets to a game. Each of the big winners though do have something in common besides being die hard fans. Of course, they are each battling or are supporting a loved one who is battling cancer. The surprise aimed at helping these families through some of their toughest times. It feels great to just get away from it for a while. I could say that now. No one's more excited than I am right now. Coming over to New Jersey with me now for another family, fun sports story that is sure to make you smile. One little one is cartwheeling her way into T ball victory. Take a look at this video that's officially gone viral. Watch this epic moment during a T ball game in Kenilworth when six year old mate takes a whack at the ball. Then the boys from the other team scrambled to get that ball while the queen that she is decides to cart wheel her way to first base. That spunky six year old is a gymnast and now a T ball connoisseur, a girl after my own heart there, I did gymnastics for that. I love to do. Gymnastics is amazing. Cool, awesome and very cool. Proud of myself. Go for. Yeah. Girl, how cute is that? Well, mate may be busy cartwheeling her way to victory. But I'm sure as a six year old she may have other interests too, right? Maybe like playing with Barbies, like your average six year old little one. Well, this leads us right into today's. Did you know, did you know that Mattel Barbie's parent company has just made the nostalgic doll even more inclusive. There you go. Meet Barbie with Down Syndrome. Mattel tells us they worked with the National Down Syndrome Society on the shape, clothing, accessories and packaging, all of it representing the Down Syndrome community. The doll is part of Mattel Barbie fashion line which offers more diverse representations of beauty and helps to fight stigma around physical disabilities. There you have it, my friend that's today. Did you know? Now this announcement has left One Jersey based organization. Absolutely thrilled as it allows even more Children to see themselves in Barbie. We got a chance to hear from some of those Children impacted first hand. Check it out. It's the newest Barbie to take the world by storm. Tuesday, Mattel introduced its first Barbie with Down Syndrome like Lee and friend Amelia are excited to get their hands on one. My daughter immediately knew that that was someone just like her. The company worked alongside the National Down Syndrome Society to make the doll. Locally, families are part of the Down Syndrome Association of Central New Jersey. Say it's a step in the right direction. We've seen a lot of diversity with the line and we're very proud it features a shorter frame, longer torso around her face, almond shaped eyes, smaller ears and a flat bridge. You'll notice she has braces too. My daughter wears a and so seeing that physical disability is really important for our Children to know that that's part of the community they're in and that Mattel understands that and seeing it in dull form increases awareness and acceptance. It's also relatable for siblings of a brother or a sister with Down Syndrome. She's pretty, I like her and her necklace. The dress blue and yellow are colors associated with Down Syndrome awareness. Her pink necklace with three upward chevrons represents the three copies of the 21st chromosome. While club dreams along with the Down Syndrome Association of Central New Jersey don't have their hands on one just yet. They're looking forward to the day they do, it gives them a place to have extra enrichment to build connections with their friends to have kind of um after school activities while Mattel and Barbie do their part to make the world a place more inclusive for all one volunteer organization in New Jersey is doing the same take a look at this heartwarming story all about prom for people of all abilities. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you gone. It is so special to have something like this, an inclusive prom for students with and without disabilities to be involved and to feel like they are represented and heard just about inclusivity and bringing all students together regardless of, you know, any types of disabilities they have if they don't and just kind of bringing that in and make sure everybody has a good time. There's just kind of a group of it all like we're all together and we're all here kind of equal on an equal platform. The kids are the best part of it. We looking forward to doing this tonight. It brings a lot of joy to us and it's a really wonderful night for everybody. I never thought it would be this amazing. I wait for a pizza. I love seeing all my friends here. I show up dancing. It's my thing. It's an art. It's great to see new people and friends. I know about how sweet is that? Well, with prom right around the corner, one Brooklyn based nonprofit is doing their part to help students look and feel their best on the big night. You're looking at local organization, women challenge yourself, working to give away free prom dresses to students around their community and get this. Each of those dresses were even new with tags, offering these girls the dress of their dreams for free. They tell us their goal is to empower local women and help those around the community during times of need. Honestly, I really feel like happy because this time is actually one time in a lifetime that I can do this dress and these dresses actually make me feel pretty to is hard. And you know, this is help out seniors, you know, they're doing a good thing. So we feel like this is something that we can get back to help, to let them to encourage them to do something else over in Connecticut. One school bus driver is dressing to impress. He wears many hats in more ways than one and it's all to put smiles on the faces of his students. It's 808 Friday morning. School bus drivers are on their way to their next stops and the driver of bus 21 says he's ready to take us along for a wild ride morning. 65 year old Michael Eastland is a man who wears many different hats. My chicken, every Friday Cooper Cooper, how are you doing? Eastland? Greets them with something different on his head and the kids always want to know I got a shark. I got a crown. I probably the rainbow one that's like, oh, yeah, you can wake up. Good morning. Good morning. He says his Friday ritual started after he wore a shark hat at a Jimmy Buffett show. One Friday morning. I put the shark hat on and, and drove the bus and the kids got a kick out of it. Eastland calls it Friday on 21. People told me it rhymes. I'm like, I know. Good morning. I don't have kids of my own and uh so I enjoy it. I enjoy the kids. We have a good time on the bus. I don't really have any trouble. Parents love the joy it brings to them and their kids. He's Mike always does it on Friday morning and we love it. I usually get more parents on Fridays just makes me feel good knowing that there's people like that in our community. After several years. Everybody knows I've been gifted hats by kids. So I've got a pizza and a hot dog that were gifted to me by a boy up the road. Eastland has turned a monotonous drive to school into a year full of memories. It feels very good. I guess you can make yourself happier by making other people happy.
