Coming up on a positive note where good news does exist. Some people have like cancer and stuff and like it's, it's good to cheer them up. This little boy is doing all he can to brighten the lives of those kids battling serious illnesses. His inspiration behind this kind of movement is sure to move you over on Long Island. They're using movement as medicine. Dance has helped me tremendously in dealing with my symptoms. How these people with Parkinson's disease are dancing their way toward healing. Plus I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them. This man is alive today. Thanks to his ice hockey team. Now they've got a bond that goes far beyond the ice today. Good news does exist and you've come to the right place to find it. It's time for on a positive note. Mhm hm. Hello. Hello, I'm Jordan Casa and thank you for tuning in. You're watching on a positive note where good news does exist. So rest assured here on a positive note, you can be sure to find some of the most heartwarming stories from all around our area. These are stories that will move you and inspire you. And on that note, let's jump right into our first story out of Long Island. That's sure to do just that. Here. On a positive note, we really believe that nothing lifts your spirits quite like lifting someone else's. And that's what this story is all about. 17 year old boy is working to lift the spirits of Children, battling life threatening illnesses. The inspiration behind his major act of kindness is sure to warm your heart. Take a look at Stony Brook children's hospital. A dose of cheer walked through the doors. I have 218 cards being delivered. A special delivery of Get Well cards made by seven year old Colton le for young patients battling life threatening illness because some people have like cancer and stuff and like it's good to cheer them up. Colton says the inspiration to make the greeting cards came from someone he loves very much. I have a brother named Ethan and um he has disa disabilities that he he cannot do some some stuff that other of us can do. So I was like, huh? Maybe I can make cards for everyone to put smiles on everyone's faces. Ethan was born with a very rare genetic epilepsy. Jessica Lee says Ethan's disability has deepened Colton's sense of empathy. He sometimes makes pictures and puts them on his bed and just anything he can do to make Ethan. And he said, hey mom, I really want other kids to smile also. Do you think that we could do something to make other kids smile? The Brookhaven second graders idea launched cards by Colton. Hundreds of handmade cars filled with healing vibes. We draw rainbows. That's what I draw. We wrote notes like I hope this car puts a smile on your face. What's so inspiring is that he's only seven years old and he has such a compassionate soul and to have such compassion for other people at his age is really rare. Patients are going to love the doctors say Colton and his classmates, cars will make a big difference for Children at the hospital to get a card. And a little bit of, you know, warmth and connection to someone else can really make them remember that they're not alone, a gift of compassion crafted by Colton's artistic hands and warm heart. It makes me happy to help kids um because it's just fun, it's fun to help kids and we know those kids so appreciate it. Colton. Well, Colton says he hopes cards by Colton will become an annual project. Talk about making an impact. And at just seven years old, well over in the Bronx, we've got another story of another little one, spreading all the positive vibes. But this time through his dance moves, the Brooklyn native is using his dancing skills not only to entertain others but to inspire them as well. And when you find out his age, you will not believe it if you don't know him already. This is cool since September, his dancing has caught the attention of people on social media and he now has over 100,000 followers on tiktok and Instagram. But how does this little six year old reach so much success so fast? It's a story. We went as tourists and then he asked me, can he dance with them? And I'm like, can you dance with him? So I'm like, ok, you can go act and he went and then he showed him a dance and they were like, really excited. And I'm like, ok, so then they asked us to come back constantly. So we went every other weekend and then from there, he just started going up and from here, Juice Thea was born but it's not jai's social media following or dance skills that sets him apart from the average six year old. It's his kindness and message of encouragement to other kids to show. Thanks to all his fans today. Him and his mom hosted a meet and greet at roller Wade where he got to talk to kids just like himself and skate around with his fans. It's really good and that he's confident with it. It makes me like, I just can't believe it. Yer says, since his dancing journey began, she's seen a boost of confidence in her son. I can definitely tell the difference from when he first started. He used to be a little shy. Now when he gets there, he sees the tick tock. He's running up to them. He's hugging him. People in Times Square are coming up to him. Now, asking can you take a picture just six years old and already inspiring others in his community to keep dancing. Coming over to the Hudson Valley with me now where a new fitness craze has just hit the scene and this one is sure to make you smile. It's goat yoga. Yeah, goat and I've got your behind the scenes. Look at what all the hype is about. Check it out, lift your head, your heart, your gaze. At first glance, this might look like a traditional yoga class. Pull the belly in, you have some friends over there. But as you can see, this is not your typical studio breathing in from the root all the way up to your crown. Goats are known as the dogs of the farm yard. So they're extremely social animals love to get out there in your personal space on your personal space. Just a whole mix of things. Here we go. That was the case for me on Friday. When I got a sneak peek of goat yoga at Totes Goats in Warwick. I'm a very firm believer in the therapy that animals can provide for human beings. We've got bells and coconut. So when I started to do it, I didn't realize how much of an impact we were going to be making the business on route 94 opened six years ago. But the owner says, not everyone knows the growing trend is available in their backyard. Find that space on that left side of your body. What we hope for when people come here is to have the ability to let go of everything outside and just, just be present here. We'll bring our hands to our heart centered on your mat and with our animals and to just experience something unique and beautiful. Now, you know what that sound means? It's time for today's. Well, there's a special group over on Long Island who are using dancing as health. That special group is made up of people with Parkinson's disease. A disease that affects more than 10 million people worldwide. Let's take a look. At how those moves are helping them to heal healing vibes fill the Tillis Center where dozens of Long Islanders are battling Parkinson's disease. One step at a time. The class was founded by Beth Hochstein for the old Westbury mother of two. Her mission is not only important, it's personal. I was diagnosed by around the age of right before my 37 th birthday with young Uns Parkinson's Parkinson's disease. Hote says it was a devastating diagnosis but she decided to fight the disease with positivity and perseverance. Dance has helped me tremendously in dealing with my symptoms. So I want to spread that message to everybody else that you have to keep moving and you have to keep going. The dance classes are a collaboration between Hochstein Dance Party for Parkinson's Foundation and the Tillis Center with the help of fundraisers. Hochstein offers the classes free of charge. We just meet to try to have fun and smile and make people happy and make people forget about the fact that they have Parkinson's studies. Show dance is highly beneficial for people suffering from Parkinson's disease by slowing its progression and improving overall movement. I love this. Dancing with Parkinson's Yes, very nice. I get to meet other people that have the same disability and we help been helped with some of the dance steps have helped me judging from the smiles on the dance floor. This class is bringing joy and hope to many bringing joy and hope to many. That's what we're all about here on a positive note. Well, while there's so much good happening in our communities, there's so much good happening nationally too. You're gonna love this one. When one woman, Jasmine Nofsinger found a lost dog in Tallahassee, Florida, she could have never imagined he had wandered from his home over 400 miles away. Thankfully, the pup affectionately known as Ham Bone had a chip and she was able to actually contact his family. It turned out he had been missing since February of 2021. So Jasmine was more than happy to help facilitate an emotional reunion with Ham's owner Patricia.
