On the Scene: Malibu Barbie Cafe Pop-up Experience Comes to NYC

And welcome back everyone to wake up with Chatter. I'm Baker and I do. But lately it seems like we're living in a Barbie world. I feel like you and I are always living in a Barbie world from Barbie core trends, new inclusive dolls which we love talking about on the show and of course the highly anticipated live action Barbie movie coming out very soon. Well, now it's our very own Shannon Lanier's turn to go Barbie. He's on the scene at the Malibu Barbie Cafe which opens today. Come on, Barbie, let's go party today. That's right. We are so excited. I think it's safe to say that Barbie is the most popular doll in the world with 100 dolls sold every minute and 100 and 50 countries. I mean, she has everything, dream homes, cars and now her very own life size Malibu Barbie Cafe. You guys gotta come over here and check this place out. I mean, this has everything. You had a time capsule with 1971 original dolls in it. You have tons of selfie opportunities like this big boom box right here. You can get in front of that play some music, get a dance party going. You have a cafe where you could order actual food. We're gonna get to that in a little bit later in the show. And you even have a sand castle that I just built earlier. You saw that we can play in the sandbox and Derek Barry is here and you gotta tell us a little bit more about this because you guys have been putting on a lot of experience in pop up shops like this. So talk to me about why you guys chose Barbie. Yeah. Well, great job with the City Castle. So um well, Barbie is an iconic brand. You know, we we do all these different kind of activations, walk through experiences uh cafes and we really wanted to do something for families and for everyone this time and really blow it out this summer, take people out of New York City and transform them somewhere else. And what better than Malibu Bay Cafe? Yeah, and your head of experiences at bucket listers. So everyone loves it. You have like millions of followers online and people are always looking for the next bucket list item to do. So what is some of the favorite things that people love to do here? Ok. So the big bucket list item here is obviously getting in the sand Castle sandbox and playing and then how could we not have the life size Barbie Box? And ours is we, we love it, it's super inter I gotta get my Barbie photos, right. It's got the props, it's got, I mean, I've seen many Barbie boxes. Ok. Yes, I'll buy three right there. I take it, I'm doing it. I'm gonna do it. And this is great. So people can come in here and really take part in this whole experience, take selfies, eat some of the food and every part of this experience to become Barbie. Right. Absolutely. And like you said, the food is included with the tickets. So, I mean, yeah, it's, it's, and all these photo moments, all that, in that case, we're gonna get to that food in about a half an hour, we're gonna come back out here alive. And in the meantime, I'm gonna take more selfies in my Barbie box and we'll tell you all about the food that's included when we come back looking good.
