Yeah, and we know the world can be tough sometimes. So to take a break, we'd like to tell you about one good thing happening in the world today, we're highlighting a young basketball players inspiring journey. Meet Hansel Emmanuel, he was six years old when a cinder block wall he was playing on just completely collapsed. His arm in attendance were crushed, forcing him to undergo an amputation. The recovery process was physically and emotionally difficult. Emmanuel needed help doing everything from getting dressed to eating and drinking. But as the months and years rolled on, he learned how to do things for himself. Emmanuel even learned how to play basketball with the hopes of going pro just like his dad who was a basketball player in the Dominican republic. A decade after his accident, Emanuel began posting videos of himself playing street ball with just one arm. Soon enough he racked up a huge following from people all over the world. Emmanuel social media videos caught the attention of one of his father's former teammates, who also happens to be the head coach at life christian academy in florida. When he saw Emmanuel play, the coach flew him out to florida welcomed him on the team with a full scholarship. Emmanuel never let anybody for sorry for him and wanted to be treated the way every other player would be. This included doing push ups when he missed a layup in practice, a consequence. Every other player on the team was used to doing, but nobody expected it from him playing an impressive season though. The one armed point guard won the state championship for the team, bringing more than a few college scouts to the stands. Emanuel ended up joining the Northwestern State basketball team. And as a new freshman, he's already making off off to a strong start. The 19 year old said All Star said, quote, I want to make people see me as a great player, talented like many others, not for my disability. Just last weekend, Emmanuel scored his first points for the team, including they're seeing it there and a thunderous dunk in what became a 91 to 73 win, bringing the crowd of 1600 people to their feet, wow, I can't wait to see what else is in store for this star.
