One Good Thing: Former Foster Child Reunites With Biological Father

And we know the world can be tough sometimes. So, to take a break, we'd like to tell you about one good thing happening today. Today's good thing is a reunion story between an adopted woman and her biological father coming, who found each other by fate after 56 years. This picture here shows their first embrace. Let's rewind though, Deanna shrodes entered the foster system when she was just a baby. Shortly after she was taken into a forever home When she turned 27, she was determined to reconnect with her biological mother Sally King. The two did reunite and formed a tight bond over this span of two decades. The king passed away from cancer shortly after being diagnosed. Although the two were close, they never discussed Deanna's bile logical father and with her mother gone, she knew it was time to find out more about him, but she didn't have very much to go off of. All she knew was that he was from he was greek and from Richmond Virginia. So she created private facebook groups and did DNA registries trying to locate him, by the way, no luck there. So she ordained a minister. She is an ordained minister. She turned to prayer, hoping for a clue to light her path. And to her surprise, after a 10 year search, she says her best lead came to her from a higher power. Lana said, quote God spoke this to me, Your father's name is Gus. Following that moment of faith, she received a DNA match with a cousin she did not know existed. The cousin told her he believes she was his uncle. Gus is daughter. Finally, she did find her father named Gus at the age of 92 years old. The retired ballroom dancing instructor can no longer care for himself. After a very bad fall on the day of their reunion, Gus said, quote, I woke up this morning and I was alone and now this afternoon I have a daughter, I have a son in law. I have three grandchildren. I have great grandchildren. I'm not alone in the world anymore. Ever since Diana and her family visit Gus regularly to let him know he will never be alone. I love this story so much.
