It also started when one little boy asked Ruiz to draw a smiley face on his cast. At first he was hesitant saying I'm not really good at drawing, I might mess it up, but the little boy insisted and that smiley face on his cast was nothing compared to the smile on his face when Ruiz agreed. Ruiz remember that his simple drawing lit the child up and that joyous moment inspired Ruiz to offer cast art to every kid that came in with broken bones. Ruiz said as time went on his drawing and painting skills improved to the point where he can now pull off almost anything. Look at that. That's very talented. He has now painted thousands of casts with popular requests, including Disney characters such as mickey mouse or Olaf from frozen superheroes like batman and superman, soccer balls, penguins. The artwork not only helps these kids fears, but it also turns their cast into a conversation piece at school instead of having to talk about how they got injured in the first place.
