This is the story about how a four-legged hero saved the day in Nevada. A border collie named Sal came to rescue after his 53-year-old human owner was seriously injured in a fall from a 70-foot cliff in a remote area. Cheddar News’ anchors break down today’s One Good Thing.

One Good Thing: Sal the Border Collie Comes to the Rescue

today's good thing highlights 14 legged hero, a border collie named Sal one night somewhere in the remote part of the Tahoe forest sells 53 year old owner had a brutal fall of a 70 ft cliff. It wasn't until the following afternoon that he finally managed to get enough cell service to call for help telling authorities he felt as though he had broken his hip and ribs. The Nevada County Sheriff's search and rescue Team that was dispatched to find the man ended up searching for about seven hours. There were 25 members of the volunteer group along with a team of deputies and firefighters assisting in the search. But not one of them will take credit for eventually finding the victim. The search team checked his original base camp but he wasn't there. They heard a voice calling out for help but couldn't quite figure out where it was coming from. The searchers paint his last gps location and were able to connect with a friend of his. That friend told the team to quote look for sal his pet who had been accompanying him on his travels. They finally found sal who ran down to the crew, jumping up and down and spinning in circles before leading the pack. The search team followed sal who ran about 200 yards, bringing them right to his owner who was in a small camouflage shelter. The team was able to airlift the victim for treatment for his traumatic injuries and as for sal, the hero dog was taken for a quote well deserved dinner while his owner recovers. A local nonprofit is caring for him in the meantime. What a nice story there.
