Welcome back to trending spooky season continues on peacock with season two of one of us is lying is now available to stream now, The series is based on the bestselling novel of the same name and follows a group of high school students at the center of an investigation into another student's shocking day and stars shibui cam and cooper Van brutal caught up with our baker machado to dish on season to check it out. Alright, Chip, Cooper good to have you both here. Let's talk about this show because a lot of people are with this, the second season of your show, One of us is lying started streaming on peacock today. For those cooper who aren't familiar with this show, Tell us a little bit about what this is all about. Well, one of us is lying. It's kind of like, I mean people kind of say like it's a mixture of breakfast club club and pretty little liars. So basically it's about like five kids that walk into detention and uh only four walk out and basically what follows is like a murder mystery thriller, high school like drama, where you know, you kinda have to figure out who the killer is and who done it. It gets very complex, especially towards the end of the season as well now for clarification because I think this is really, really funny Chip, obviously your name, Chip, but in the show, Cooper cooper in real life is named cooper. Do you guys ever get confused a lot of times? Was it hard on set when cooper over here, it's like cooper, it's like both of us are like how would they figure out the difference between what would end up having a system on set where they would refer to me as cooper chip and him cooper Nate. But like we have like water bottles on set and things like that and I would just say cooper and we just looked at each other like you drinking on my bottle. All the coffee is like, well you guys by accident ever. If we did like they didn't tell us what we were very close to this. Don't spoil anything obviously cause I know that this show has a lot of suspenseful moments in it. What can viewers who haven't seen the first season expect in season two, expect more drama. That's all you can say, expect higher. Highs expect more drama. It's steamy, steamy. Yeah, 100% more intense. I think they're really up the stakes with season two. Bit darker, definitely upped the stakes. I think it's gonna be, I've seen, I've seen a couple episodes and uh it's definitely buildable. So I think people enjoy, okay, I'm glad you bring that up because cooper Nate for season one. I'm now just gonna call you cooper on set. It was season one was wasn't released all at once? Season two? It's now essentially binge able now on peacock. Do you like that? Do you think that that's sort of a better way to watch this show is all at once? Or did you sort of like it when it was one episode of? That's a good question because I think it's always a conversation, it's always a conversation of like is it better if it's like one a week or like last year it was like it was 33 and two and now it's like all in one. Um You know I'm I really like don't mind but I think I love the idea of having all eight so you can watch it in one day. But I also do like the aspect of doing it like once a week and you can talk about it. You know you watch the first episode and then you can converse with your friends and talk about theories. Second one comes out. Um But I mean me being like I guess in the show I'm ready to eat up all eight episodes. Sure. Well just based on the plot line. But the other thing I started to realize especially with Youtube is you're guys are not very good at spoiling things and we know how this show is sort of all about a secret with Simon says knowing the secret about what's happening with you guys in real life. Are you guys good at keeping Secrets? No he's not. If I say something like let me tell you what I'm comfortable with everyone else. I just think at this point like our cast really has known each other for a couple of years and we're family now, so there's no real secrets amongst the cast. Yeah, just come to the territory. Tell me everyone can confide. I would like a trustworthy person. Chip is like, I feel like voice trustworthy, but sometimes like maybe all accidentally run my mouth like, but like none of the bad way, I'm like, well intentioned. So you guys mentioned the show, it kind of feels a little bit like the Breakfast Club even it kind of has sort of the same feel of the Breakfast Club. Did you guys ever watch that movie? Maybe when you're younger at any point in that time? 100% yeah, I mean, I definitely watched it when I was younger and then I re watched it when we shot the pilot and then there was one day last season where a couple of us were I think is actually the baby four and one of our trailers and we kind of watched it during our lunch break. Okay. Did you draw any inspiration from any of the performances? Because we know cooper your character is the criminal chip, your character is the athlete. And we remember like Emilio estevez was the the athlete in the Breakfast Club. Did you guys draw any sort of, you know, sort of parallels from those characters? Um I think I tried to really do like my own thing, I don't think I really wanted to relate too much to um the characters in the story. I think there's definitely parallels between Breakfast Club and one of us is lying but I wanted to take Nate on my sort of own round. Yeah. Yeah, I'd have to agree, I think it was like fun to watch it for the feel and just to see what would established in that world, but beyond that was kind of like there's so much in the book and then with how are like producers have like written the show, so just you know, find your own way with the character and thanks to to be kim yoo Jae and cooper Van brutal.
