Former Representative Donna Christensen Talks Healthcare Open Enrollment
Physician and former Congresswoman for the U.S. Virgin Islands Donna Christensen talks about open enrollment season and weighs in on Obamacare's record-breaking sign-ups on day one. The rep adds that she does not believe this will change the GOP's plan to repeal and replace the legislation, but she is happy Americans see the benefits of the Affordable Care Act. She discusses the biggest impacts that will be felt by 90% of Americans with coverage and what they need to know before signing up. She first notes that the enrollment period is shorter this year - a move put in place by the Trump administration. She stresses the importance of knowing the difference between co-pays and co-insurance and why it might be more difficult this year to take advantage of coupons that help pay for medicines. The Congresswoman closes the interview speaking more about Obamacare, adding that it is currently the law of the land, regardless of what the GOP does. She says it's important for Americans to all sign-up for plans while they are required to do so under the ACA.
