The holiday shopping season is well underway. Adobe put early Black Friday Weekend shopping estimates at over $6.5 billion, making it the biggest Thanksgiving Weekend ever for retailers. For businesses, however, the holidays can be a stressful time. Jason Feifer, Editor In Chief of Entrepreneur Magazine, shares his advice for businesses wanting to take advantage of the holiday surge. He says if you're not already prepared, then you're too late to the game. Feifer recommends recording a number of different data points like sales numbers this holiday, so that you can better track and prepare for next year. Feifer also shares some of the stories he has heard from business owners about mistakes they've made during the holidays, and the lessons they learned from those mistakes. Melissa Ben Ishay, the founder of Baked By Melissa, was not prepared for her first holiday season, which, Feifer says, led to major changes in the business that are now part of the company's success.
