Dr. Natalie Jackson, director of research at the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI), joined Cheddar to explain that support for gay rights in America is at an all-time high according to a study of 10,000 people. She said the plight of LGBTQ+ people has been humanized to more Americans in the last 10 to 15 years but also noted there is often a lag between public opinion and government. Jackson pointed to that inefficiency for why it could take longer for politicians to align with the larger American consensus.
