Our next guest, Cindy Casesa says she had her first memorable experience with the spirit when she was just a child. Later, she chose to use her abilities and become a professional psychic medium. Now, she's a new co host on the travel channels. The Dead Files. Cindy, welcome. Thanks for having me. We're so excited to have you. So, first for people who may be a little unfamiliar, what is a psychic medium? Yes. So a psychic medium is somebody who can communicate with spirits. People on the other side and psychics pick up on past present and future mediums communicate with spirits. So I do both. Ok. And you were 10 years old when you had your first encounter with a spirit. Tell us a little bit about that. That sounds terrifying. Yeah, it was actually terrifying. So there's a girl in my elementary school who unfortunately passed away in a car accident. She was hit by a drunk driver. And after she died, I was, I woke up in the middle of the night and I saw her standing directly next to my bed. And so I pulled the covers over my head. I pulled them back down and she was still standing there. So that was my first experience. It was terrifying. I didn't really understand what had happened. Um, I knew something happens but I grew up in a pretty religious family so we didn't talk about, I see dead people. So for many years, I just held on to that. But I was always very psychic so I can see when things were going to happen before they did. I could read people. I felt spirits. But it took me a while to really, you know, embrace it and step forward and say, I'm a medium. What made you embrace it? When did you decide? Hey, I want to do this full time. I want to help people. Yeah. You know, well, when I was 19, I met my first mentor. Her name was Bonnie and she looked at me and she said you're a psychic medium and she was the first person to actually see that in me. And then I started learning more about medium chip. And then I realized that, you know, I had the ability to help people. And once I started working and doing readings, I decided like this is what I'm supposed to do with my life and I just didn't look back. Does it feel like a personal calling some day? It does? I can't, can't really imagine doing anything else to be honest with you and you use different tools to communicate, tell us what they are. Yeah. So you know, I use the Clare is what we call a medium ship where I can see which is clairvoyance. I can feel I can hear clear audience. So I go into a location and I use those senses. But I also use something called automatic writing, which is channeled writing. So I don't hear the words and write them down. I put the pen to paper and start moving my hand and it comes out. Yeah. And I also use channeled art. So go into a location and feel who's here, what spirits are here. And then it's an extension of my automatic writing. So I don't see them and draw them. I put the charcoal to the paper and I move my hand in the face of the beer. Is this are these some of your drawing? Some of the drawings? Yeah. They seem very dark. What about them? So this drawing is actually a spirit guide. So everybody has a spirit guide. There are spirits around us that help us throughout life. Uh This is a spirit guide for somebody that I drew off for an episode of the dead files who you know, this man was living in a really haunted house, he was terrified. And so I drew his guide. So we felt more protected. Uh So we could hang it on his wall. Yeah. Do you? Is this something you have to focus on or does it just come to you? When you talk to somebody or walk into a room. So, you know, I have the ability to control it. I always say that it's kind of like if you can imagine a radio plugged into an outlet, uh There's always an underlying current going through, but now I can control how high I turn up the volume. So when I go into a location, I turn up the volume and when I leave the location, I turn it down. So I don't walk around sensing spirits all day long. It would be very difficult, but it took a lot of years to really find that discipline and to learn how to control it. And a lot of people that, that don't understand their ability, don't know how to turn it down. That's a great analogy. A great way to explain it. Thank you for that. We have to talk about the dead files you're joining for the 15th season. Tell us what you're gonna do on the show. It's, it's a really great show to be a part of. So what my partner Steve and I do is we go into homes where people have really, you know, difficult experiences with the paranormal where they feel like their families are in danger, their families are kind of torn apart. So we go in and we try to figure out what is actually happening here. Why is their activity? What happened on the land which spirits are around? And so I go in and do the investigation where I tap into the spirits and my partner Steve, who's a retired New York City homicide detective. He does all of the research. So he goes and meets with the historians with the locals to find out, you know, what, what actually happened in history. And then at the end, um, you know, we come together and share what we discovered. Now, some of the spirits on the show seem to be darker entities. Yes. Tell us about that. Yes. So, you know, I found a lot of the times when we're in, uh you know, discovering these dark entities or angry spirits is because they have unfinished business. You know, their stories haven't been told correctly. Um They've been sometimes forgotten in history and they just want a voice. So my job is to go in to give them a voice and to help, you know, get rid of the activity, at least at that level that the families are experiencing it. Cindy. I'm not a skeptic. Most of us at chatter aren't skeptics, but there are some out there. What would you say to them, who anyone who's skeptical about psychic abilities in general? You know, I learned a while ago. Uh My job is never to turn a skeptic into a believer. It's, it's a lost cause, you know. So I just go in, I do my job and, and that's, that's how I work, you know. But you know, I will say, I really do believe that everybody comes into this world in this life time with the ability to feel these energies. And we walk around a lot saying, oh, I should have trusted my gut. Like most people say that and what that really means is I should have trusted my intuition. I should have trusted my psychic ability. It's just using different language, you know. So was there something on the show that you had never seen before? Like what was maybe one of the more scarier moments? You know, there was a really interesting case that we did. It was, it, it was a home in California where I went on to the land and I really felt this like really dark presence that was almost elemental. It was something that was created by the lands because what had happened is there was a lot of mining that happened in that location and it stirred something up. So that was new for me to see something that wasn't human that wasn't inhuman. It was just, I mean, it wasn't human but it wasn't like a demon or anything like that.
