Welcome back to Between Bells, it's raining gold in Dubai as the ladies from the real housewives of Dubai have arrived as the 11th City in the franchise. The show follows a powerful group of lavish women as they run business empires and expertly navigate a highly exclusive social scene. Indeed, and I do it all while looking incredibly fabulous, take a look at this, Anything is possible in Dubai, it's a land of opportunity, there's a lot of gold here and we have a lot of gold diggers too, he wants my spotlight, it's fine, I can share from submissive, Most of the women are running this town and I sat down with Sarah Al Mardini, star of the real housewives of Dubai all about being part of the new show, take a look at this, Everybody is in love with the ladies from the real housewives of Dubai and we're in love with this new franchise. What was it sort of like introducing Dubai to really a different audience here in new york for a lot of us and around the world that weren't really sort of familiar with Dubai? I think um what makes this franchise different is the curiosity people have towards the Middle East, they want to see, how do they live? Is it true what you've heard the stereotype, the misconception all the so I think this franchise was a door of curiosity more than it was like for the show, but then people got into the show as they started it. So if you bring up such an interesting point, which is sort of the misconceptions because look, I think a lot of people, you know based on what we've heard of how they treat women, The LGBT community, what sort of misconception did you sort of want to de stigmatize with this show? I mean when you watch the show you realize that we as women we're so liberal. I'm Emirati, I'm from the U. A. I'm from Dubai, right? So the way I live is the way every woman has the right to live but some choose to live in a different way, some more conservative, some more restricted but it's all based on what you want but the country's open your rights are there everything is there everyone and anyone is allowed to come to Dubai? There's no restrictions to anything as long as you respect the culture and religion. So were you a fan of the Housewives franchise or any of the cities before you joined the cast of this? Like have you seen the show before? No, no no. What how did you what made you decide you wanted to join this? So the thing is I've been hustling, I've been an entrepreneur since the age of 15, I've never had time for tv but growing up I hear it, the Housewives Housewives, the real housewives now that I'm 36 I'm like my God I'm on the show, I've used to talk about it now, I'm on the show so I mean when they first me I was a bit worried about doing it because it goes against my culture and everything to do. It's new for us. But then I was like, listen, God sent you this opportunity for a reason. Don't throw it away. So, were you ever nervous at all about like having to unveil personal parts of your family and show these other parts of your life? You were never you never were worried that like, I'm accustomed to having maybe a little bit of privacy here. No, because the thing is I was not being a hypocrite. What you saw is exactly who I am. My life behind camera, behind closed doors. This is who I am. I did not put on a show or downplayed anything. That's that's what you get and we'll look and one of the episodes we just watched just last week or so is basically your fight with Caroline brooks? Caroline brooks recently. I mean you had basically she was calling him up for parental advice. You called her basically. You were saying she had amnesia now in an interview with the new, she actually said she regrets that fight that basically happened. What was your take on that? Do you regret that fight now? So the thing is we both regret the fight. Um she she was she did attack me because she was triggered. Okay. But the conversation was a loving conversation of I want to be your friend. I want you to be better. Let's do better me and you, I will do this, I will do that. This was the conversation. Let's get closer to our kids, let's do that. But I think she is used to people judging her all the time. So she did not receive it as love. She received it as a judgment. But I did explain, I was like, I don't know your child, I don't know you and I want to say something but I don't want to sound like I'm intruding. I took I took the, I like asked for permission but I think it's what her friends said that triggered her most and then her friends told her you should spend time with Sarah and she thought we were teaming up against her but I was just trying to stop the arguments between both of them. But later on when we spoke about it like later a couple of days later, um brooks told me she's like listen the reason I thought you were judgmental because lisa and ion filled my head with so much stuff about you and I was like, hold on these are the girls I'm on the phone with every day and I eat with every day they're talking about right? And then we realized where was the disconnect between the whole group and he was creating the problems and how Oh, interesting. Okay, so and by the way you guys have the reunion, were you able to sort of come to some sort of consensus and bury the hatchet with a lot of the other ladies and, and and basically find common ground and a lot of things? I mean look in the reunion, you're gonna see people trying so hard to shine and be somebody like hungry, thirsty, thirsty and then you're gonna see people who are shocked and they're addressing the truth and they're confused. Yes. And then you will see who are really friends and who are not one of the things I love so much as a housewife super fan, I really enjoyed Dubai because you guys are really good at throwing shade, brooks is great at throwing shade. I feel like lisa's great at throwing shade, but you are also really incredible. Was that an art, did you, had you always sort of been like this or was there is there something that you sort of had to learn to become actually look brooks like she's a natural, she's amazing. She doesn't have to think like a tornado. I love her, but for me, I I don't throw shade, but I'm like, I challenge you, you throw good quips, I throw good clips, I challenge your your your like your thinking and you are as a character, right? But yeah, if I can give a crown to the head of like shades that she is the queen of all that you mentioned just a bit of. So you started a business at 15 years old, which is incredible. All the all the people that watch this show, you know, learn so much about the business tricks that you guys have, but what do you sort of advice you have for budding entrepreneurs out there to start a business? I mean 15 is a really big sort of gamble to get into the business. So my first advice is you do not have to do a business in a sector that you're familiar with, studied or have experience in. I've opened restaurants, I've done tech, I've never studied any of that in school. I studied acting in and directing. Did that ever make you nervous to getting something that was so foreign? And I'll tell you why, because everything is available online. When I opened my restaurant, my first restaurant, I went online and I googled how to open a restaurant and I read it off a blog. It was even a legit website. Information is for free if you want to be a leader, not a manager at your business, hire people that are smarter than you, so they can teach you. True, that's all my team members are way smarter than I am. I don't want to be the smartest and they teach me everything. And by the way, you're an incredibly prolific speaker as well. When did you realize you had a good gift for that? I'm dyslexic. So I've been told, I've been told I'm never gonna do it as a public speaker or a business woman and I was like whatever, you know, if you Yeah, so yeah, so I found out I was once I was in I had a government position. I had four back then. I had one government position and I remember the chairman couldn't make it and I was the only one who spoke very good english. So I went on the stage and like, I don't know how to do this to do this. But then when I finished everyone was like you're so good, you have a gift of knowing how to put messages together and tailor them in a way, and I was like that's what I want to do. So I've been doing this for the past six years and I love it. Same. I mean I I you know, I have terrible dyslexia and being a news anchor that you think that would be the last job, but you have to force yourself to enunciate as a result of all of its a gift.
