Designer Rebecca Minkoff wants to give female founders the resources they need to succeed.
"While panels are great, founders, especially women, need to come away with true learnings and that needs to be workshop-based," Minkoff told Cheddar on Friday.
She's teaming up with Jennifer Bett Communications and Luminary in New York City on Wide Awake, a conference for women that hopes to get down to the nitty gritty and teach women skills for everything from finding a business partner to assembling pitch decks.
"I think the number one thing ... is venture capital and raising funds. That's one of the things that we hear from our female founders is that's one of the biggest challenges that they have," said Melissa Conner, partner and managing director at JBC.
The two also offer tips as to how to promote diversity and inclusion every day. Conner recommended hiring and promoting women, whereas Minkoff recommended consumers think about where they shop.
"Shop women," she said.
Wide Awake is scheduled for Mar. 6, 2019 at Luminary in Manhattan, New York.
