This is according to a report published yesterday by nonprofit March of Dimes, which has been tracking the closures since 2018. About 300 birthing units have closed since then. The report found more than 5.6 million women live in counties with little to no access to maternal health care and found more than a third of us counties were maternity care. Deserts, Ohio had the most women impacted by overall reduction in access to care.
