According to a new report, an increase in sales of solar powered and electric vehicles was in line with international goals to curb global warming. The international energy agency said that solar power capacity increased by 50% in the past two years while ev sales increased 240%. However, those numbers will need to rise significantly in the coming years to meet the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement. Annual clean energy spending will need to go from 1.8 trillion in 2023 to $4.5 trillion. The agency says that demand for fossil fuels will peak in 2030 still making it possible to reach net zero emissions by 2050.
