Retail Spending Down Across the Board As More Companies Announce Furloughs and Layoffs

There was a lot of news this week reinforcing the pain the retail industry is feeling as the Coronavirus crisis continues. Macy's on Monday announced it was furloughing most of it's 130,000 staff, and the biggest mall owner in the country, Simon Property, announced similar furloughs for its 4,500 employees. On the other hand, grocery-chain Kroger announced it was hiring. Brian Dodge, President of the Retail Industry Leaders Association, joined Cheddar to discuss.
