This week, Roku reported a strong quarterly earnings. Notably, active accounts increased 48 percent year-over-year. Share of Roku close on Friday up nearly 14 percent. Anthony Wood, CEO of Roku, said particularly he saw the advertising business nearly double year-over-year. He said Roku TV is one of the key ways the company is acquiring new accounts. Rumors circulated this week that the streaming services company bought Danish audio start-up Dynastrom for $3.5 million. Wood confirmed this acquisition, saying Roku is always looking to build out its team with consumer expertise. No word yet on whether Roku is looking to move specifically in the smart speaker market. But Wood did say, "Audio's an important part of the TV experience."
