Rick Tumlinson, founding partner at SpaceFund, joined Cheddar to talk about the state of the space industry following a turbulent week. He discussed the lack of diversity as well as recent allegations against Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin about an apparent toxic work environment. Safety concerns were also aired in the whistleblower report, and Tumlinson explained that the worst thing a space company can do is not listen to its staff when possible red flags are raised. "That’s exactly what happened with Challenger, and the shuttle blew up. They ignored the fifth engineer on the left who said don’t fly," he said, though noting Bezos going up himself showed he himself believed it was safe.
