Ryan Phillippe and Kat Graham Star in New Film 'Collide'

also a new film collide hitting theaters today. This feature follows an ensemble cast over the course of one night in a Los Angeles restaurant. Now, one man finds himself on an awkward blind date that takes a pretty crazy turn the bus boy and his waiter girlfriend used the restaurant to stash drugs and another patron is watching his wife's infidelity all from the parking lot starting our friend Jim Gaffigan. I sat down with the other stars of this film, kat Graham and Ryan phillipe to discuss the new film. Take a look at this alright, Catt Ryan without giving too much away your character's dynamic in this film. It starts off kind of awkward, but it quickly takes a turn. So how would you sort of both describe the relationship that you guys have in this film volatile. Mhm. Yeah, I mean, you know, there's an awkwardness that comes organically to any initial meeting between two people. This goes to a place that everyone fears or you know, that is just beyond the realm of of of of desirability. For sure. Cat, what do you mean Cat as a viewer, you can't help but feel the emotions with both of your characters. Where did you sort of draw inspiration from your character in particular here? Um Well, I I personally have experienced racism or certain things that can can create that. Um the need to want revenge. Like I think we've all experienced being being bullied or being put into positions that we just need to get out of and find our way out of. So um I used the stuff that I had been experiencing in my, my own life and my own career journey um in terms of the emotion, I had a fantastic partner in crime here who just gave so much on every take, no matter where the camera was and it was, it was definitely the, some of the hardest things I've ever done um in my journey as an actor, but with one of the most awesome actors that I could have been paired with because especially with the long monologues, like it's so easy to just check out and he was just like with me the whole time. So it made it really, I had a safety net to kind of go with it. Well, no, I was gonna say like, you know, cat, I we have mutual friends, I knew of her, I wanted to work with her, but we didn't really meet and spend time talking too much until we sat down. So when you see us sit down in this movie together, it's kind of the first time we met in a lot of ways and then it was an experiment of trust over the next couple of days as we shot the rest of the scenes um because it was very emotional and it is high pitched in that regard. Um and we just established a sense of trust between each other very quickly on, but I like the fact that you're kind of seeing us meet when these two characters meet also at the same time, there's several plots that are happening here at the same time. I mean guys that impact filming, especially working alongside each other in the scenes knowing that this is all happening all at once. I think the approach in that regard is you're really focused on your character and the story that you're telling, it's a Glinda and and and and the producers to decide how that all is weaved together. But uh you know, I think we approach this from a real standpoint of like what if these two people just met up and this was the circumstance and it wasn't really colored by or affected by what the other storylines were. You know, like that's something that happens in the final product, but for what we were there to do was have a real situation between these two characters. Yeah, so based off of this guys and I know kat you're engaged now. Are you both for or against blind dates now? Always for the record, I've always been against blind dates, I believe that you should end up with your best friend. That's so that's my thing. I yeah, I mean, how many do you know of that worked out? Okay, so guys, with the minute or so I have left with you, you've both been in a lot of huge projects Ryan, which iconic franchises of Cats, would you want to join the Vampire Diaries or Rise of teenage mutant ninja turtles? Yeah, I think, I think it would have to be honestly like I really do. I was just telling her, I have a soft spot, like even though like they sort of came into, you know, their, their major moment when I was like almost a teenager, but I still have a lot of love for cat really quickly, which project of Ryan, would you want to join MacGruber or cruel intentions? Ah and by the way, he's done so many, it's like the longest resume ever. So I probably pick one of those like amazing, cool Indies because Ryan has the chops of, he's just a beast. Um, I, even though he looks exactly like he shot it yesterday, I said cruel intentions. That was, that was the first time that I had gotten to see this, you know, it was like, okay, this is like, this is an iconic human being here. It was that from me at my age and the, the girls that I was around in school with, like that was the huge term where that's when Ryan became everyone's obsession and then he just still the best movie ever.
