SEC Fines Ex-McDonald's CEO Over Misleading Statements About Firing

Former McDonald's executive agreeing to a five-year ban, serving as an executive of a public company to settle a case with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Well, it is to resolve an investigation over allegedly misleading statements he made about having sexual relationships with employees. Steve Easterbrook was the former ceo of the company from 2015 until he was fired in 2019. McDonald's saying that he had violated company policy because of a consensual relationship with an employee. And the company later said that a further investigation found that Easterbrook engaged in multiple improper relationships. He wasn't fired for cause allowing him to receive a severance package of about $105 million. Easterbrook also agreed to pay a $400,000 fine without admitting or denying the SCC's fraud claims against him.
