Severe Weather Linked to Nationwide Flight Delays and Cancellations

Severe weather is part of the reason flyers are continuing to experience flight delays nationwide. According to the tracking website, flight aware as of 11 a.m. eastern time, about 19,000 flights have been delayed. At least 1400 have been canceled altogether. The FAA tweeted this morning, more than a dozen airports across the country were experiencing cloudy conditions and thunderstorms will be affecting flights, travelers in and out of Washington DC area. Airports were delayed yesterday when the FAA was forced to ground planes while they made a repair to one of their air traffic control facilities.
