Patagonia Pauses Facebook & Instagram Ads, Joining the List of Brands Supporting the Movement #StopHateForProfit
Patagonia is jumping on the bandwagon to show support for a movement called '#StopHateForProfit. The organizers of the hashtag are calling out Facebook for making money on 'misinformation and harmful content' and are asking companies to pause ad spending during the money of July. The organizers also added that the social media giant has 'allowed incitement to violence against protestors fighting for racial justice in the wake of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks, and many others.' Facebook CEO Meets With Organizers of #StopHateForProfit as Boycott Grows
Mark Zuckerberg will reportedly meet with the organizers of the #StopHateForProfit campaign. The meeting comes after other company executives had at least two meetings with advertisers on Tuesday. However, in the meeting the executives did not offer any new details on how Facebook planned to combat hate speech on the platform.
