Stretching Your Dollar: How Has Inflation Impacted You?

Welcome back to stretching your dollar. Everyone on our news while we know understanding your dollar can be hard. So we took to the streets to hear directly from you, especially in this inflation environment. The cost of living is definitely hurting quite a bit, especially as a fresh grad. I'm really not starting off with a lot. So it's not my favorite time to be building up from nothing. But yeah, just trying to keep it lean and get through and my rent is being paid every month and we're ok. It's impacting me in a massive way, especially here in New York City. I'm used to. So I studied in New Orleans and I'm used to. It's not exactly inflation but it's direct inflation. It's geographical inflation where prices are affordable you spend or you don't do anything. So I know it's not the inflation you were talking about, but it's my personal inflation and I believe that it's impacted me in a huge way, especially because I came here less than a month ago. And yeah, it's a tough topic right now. Not too badly, but I know for the start up world it's getting less investments and eventually once we start manufacturing, the costs will go up. But for now we're pre revenue. So it's not too bad uh drastically our little, you know, what do you call them? Inflation raises that we all get. Don't keep up with the price of food more than anything, especially with the family. That's probably the biggest issue that we have is food is, I don't know, 40% more than it was 12, 18 months ago. Inflation is impacting me as far as like because I sell sneakers. I'm a reseller. So the tax is going up on sneakers, food and stuff like that. I have a girlfriend. So food used to be $17 now it's $57 because it's me and my girlfriend. So it's like stuff like that. That's all, that's pretty everyday stuff. It's not that much. You more than him. We love hearing your thoughts, especially when it comes to how you're budgeting. We're all getting creative these days and we wanted to ask you the viewers at home how you are cutting back during these inflationary woes. So let's take a look at some of the answers. Sandra on Facebook said she's cooking all of her own food while freezing leftovers and let's not forget to recycle reduce and reuse. I love that answer from Sandra. I'm right there with you and Facebook user Kathleen says she's using fans instead of running the ac constantly helping cut down her electric bill in the summer sounds, start no sleep. And Helena on Twitter tells us that they're trying to find fun, free local events to attend on weekends instead of things like going to the movies and make sure to keep up with us on social media.
