Study: Age, Education Affects Name Change Likelihood

Time now for our good to know headlines and we're starting with new research about who is more likely to change their name when they get married. A new survey from Pew Research Center polled 2400 people who are married as well as nearly 1000 who had never been married. It found nearly 80% of women in opposite sex partnerships took their husband's last name, but those who are younger and who had completed a higher level of education were less likely to do so, only a third of unmarried women said they definitely planned to change their name as for men. More than 90% of them kept their name while about 5% of them took their partner's name and less than 1% hyphenated their own last name with their partner.
